SEISCIENTOS is a coordinated project between the Networking Group of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and the Dept. of Information and Communications Engineering (DIIC) of the University of Murcia. It is funded by the spanish "Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN) ".

The work proposed in this project is aimed at creating a framework that meets the needs for communication and for the infrastructure to provide dedicated services to end-user in ubiquitous vehicular environments.

The vehicle to vehicle (V2V) and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) communications will have a special relevance in this project. Various communication technologies will be exploited, mainly vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANET) and networks with infrastructure, whose main representative are 3G cellular networks. We will study the feasibility of such technologies in the area of vehicles; explore new strategies for modeling networks in VANETs, and directing all development towards an integrated environment for a communicating vehicle. In this regard, special attention will be given to provide a common communication interface, isolating the user from handoffs or changes that may occur between different network technologies.

NIST ns2 mobility package compiling bugs fixed !!!

I had so much trouble to compile the ns2 mobility package offered by the NIST under their Seamless and Secure project.

http://w3.antd.nist.gov/seamlessandsecure/

Because of the new GCC and G++ version, the new linux kernel, the new ubuntu distribution, and so on, there was no way to compile this VHO tool.

Thanks to a Chinese Blog (http://www.shagin45.blogspot.com/2008/02/ns2-nistmobility.html) I could finish the patch.

I fixed like a 21 compiling bugs. I made a patch for the ns 2.29 offered by the NIST with the wimax and 801.21 modules. You may free download it from the download area (please free register to do so)

Hi desperate latex users,

I just copy and paste a solution found for long tables in Latex. Yeah! for those loooonnnggg tables that got cutted when formatting the doc. We can split the table into many consecutive pages.

(extracted from http://iloo.wordpress.com/2010/08/01/latex-entorno-longtable/ and http://fczaja.blogspot.com/2007/04/longtable-latex.html )

Currently wireless communications have been significantly improved, being widely used in various areas such as health, education, industry and research. Recently, the automobile industry is adopting wireless technologies in order to improve the services offered, such as safety, traffic updates and infotainment. In particular, vehicular ad-hoc networks are being promoted to improve safety on the road. In this paper we provide a performance evaluation of a content delivery framework over VANETs to assess the viability of this type of schemes. In our experiments we vary several parameters, such as vehicular density, speed, and content demand rate under different environment conditions to evaluate,  from a cross layer perspective, the impact they have on metrics such as delivery latency, routing overhead, throughput, and packet loss; in  particular, we evaluate user satisfaction through the latency perceived and the network performance via the packet loss. Results show that, despite of the routing overhead generated, the overall performance is improved when speed and vehicular density increase.

After upgrading to 11.04 my laptop and installing from the scratch my desktop I only can say:

Unity rocks!. Anyway, the system is not stable yet and it has some issues to fix just after installation.

We should enable the Canonical Repositories, it will help to install some other non-free software. It is legal since some companies (Adobe, Sun, ...) have an agreement with Ubuntu
