Johann Marcelo Márquez Barja was born in Sucre-Bolivia, he finished his school studies at Lathrop High School (1996. Fairbanks , Alaska), then he return to Bolivia and study Computer Science, getting his Systems Enginner degree at Royal and Pontiff Saint Francisco Xavier of Chuquisaca Major University in 2002 (Sucre-Bolivia). He moved to La Habana (Cuba) and study at José Antonio Echeverría Polytechnic University a Master of Science Program on Telematics receiving his degree at 2004. Nowadays he is a Ph.D. candidate of "Technology and Architecture of Computer Systems" Ph.D. Program offered by the Department of Computer Engineering (DISCA) at Polytechnic University of Valencia (Valencia, Spain).

He has done several works and consultancy for many institutions and organizations inside and outside of his home country.

Currently, He works as a researcher for the Networking Research Group focusing on Vehicular Networks and Vertical Handover Communications. He is also interested in Computer Networks, Computer Security, Data Integration, Telematics Services, and Distributed Databases.

Antecedentes

Estas Jornadas surgieron a partir de las actividades llevadas a cabo en marzo de 1989 por la Dirección General de Telecomunicaciones de Madrid; y se celebran a nivel estatal, ininterrumpidamente, desde 1990. Por tanto, la celebración de este encuentro en La Laguna (Tenerife) representa una continuidad respecto a las ediciones anteriores que tuvieron lugar en Sitges (Barcelona), El Escorial, Valencia, Santander, Málaga, Barcelona, Santiago de Compostela, Cáceres, San Sebastián, La Manga (Murcia), Granada, Valencia, Lérida, Madrid, Almería, Granada, Albacete, Zaragoza, Castellón, A Coruña y Valencia.
Manteniendo el espíritu de anteriores ediciones y tratando de aglutinar a un mayor número de participantes y actividades, en esta XXII edición las Jornadas de Paralelismo se celebran por primera vez conjuntamente con las Jornadas de Computación Reconfigurable y Aplicaciones (JCRA).

Las Jornadas de Paralelismo son un congreso de carácter científico-técnico y ámbito nacional, que supone un encuentro de numerosos investigadores, procedentes de diferentes universidades españolas, con objeto de intercambiar experiencias y presentar ponencias relacionadas con el paralelismo y la arquitectura y redes de computadores en general.

Wireless networks, including WLAN, WiMax, wireless personal networks, ad hoc, sensor, along with pervasive networks, have witnessed their fastest growth period over the last few years and have become increasingly complex. Nonetheless, performance evaluation and analysis of wireless networks have been conducted mostly through software simulations (e.g., using ns-2 or OPNET tools). Research efforts have recently been directed towards measuring real-world commercial and experimental networks; constructing models based on real-world data and using prototypes to evaluate solutions more realistically and comprehensively and to validate assumptions and conclusions that are reached via simulation experiments.

Performance monitoring, measurement, and evaluation of heterogeneous wired and wireless mobile networks pose a new set of unique challenges due to the particular inherent properties of these systems and due to the characteristics of the wireless transmission medium.

The aim of the 5th ACM PM2HW2N, which last year's edition was held in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, is to bring together scientists, engineers, and practitioners in order to share and exchange their experiences, discuss challenges, and report state-of-the-art and in-progress research on all aspects of performance measurements, monitoring, and evaluation of heterogeneous wired and wireless mobile networks, including, wireless ad hoc, sensor, and ubiquitous networks.
